Load-Bearing Structures (TK)

Bachelor, 2nd semester

The subject “Load-Bearing Structures” combines the contents of  "Structural Systems" and "Building Materials" taught in the winter semester. The basic knowledge conveyed here is required. Through experiments, simulations, example calculations, and existing structures, load-bearing structures in wood, steel, masonry, reinforced concrete, and glass are understood and implemented in your own designs. At the end of the subject, students are able to intuitively, experimentally, creatively, and scientifically generate, compare, and evaluate structural variants. The subject consists of combined lecture and exercise sessions and excursions. The assessment is based on accompanying exercises, designs, and exams.
